A theater actress in Italy, specialized in the Strassberg method which I studied with Michael Margotta (one of the Maestro’s assistants at the time of the Actor Studio) once arrived in Auroville I tried to bring my knowledge in the field of theatre there. I then directed comedies such as The Odd Couple, Lord Byron’s Letter, and Noises Off as a director with the collaboration of some of the Auroville community’s actors. I also played the characters of Satprem as an actress in My Burning Heart and Julia Cameron in And She was Writing. I collaborated with Puducherry University’s Department of Performing Arts where I staged the Italian Commedia dell’Arte play Arlecchino Servant of Two Masters By Goldoni.
Prior to Covid’s outburst and the ensuing lockdown, two other shows were in preparation. Which I had to pause for the reasons we all know. However, having begun to work deeper on the creative writing project, in which I am still immersed, the theatrical activity has been put on standby.
Anyway I am available as actor’s coach to those among the Aurovilians who need to prepare for an audition – film, theater, or television – or who need help developing a character or a scene they are working on.
